One-of-a Kind Simsbury Bike Racks Constructed From Recycled Steel

Design complements Simsbury Bike Sculpture.

New bike racks will appear this spring in Simsbury, designed by local metal-and-clay artist Vicente Garcia. Each is constructed from recycled steel and the style will complement the Simsbury Bike Sculpture, which Garcia also created.

He is a widely respected clay-and-steel artist and Professor of Art at Central Connecticut State University who has generously shared his time and talent in Simsbury schools and at local events. To view his work, go to

The first bike rack will be installed this spring at the lower-level of the Simsbury Library, a special donation by the Town of Simsbury. Other bike racks will be added at other town-center locations, including Simsbury Town Hall.

Local businesses are encouraged to purchase bike racks to create a visual unity throughout the town. For more information, contact Ann Marie Potter at The Simsbury Bike Sculpture will be unveiled on Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m., during ArtWalk Simsbury! It is the only large-scale bike sculpture in New England, possibly in the Northeast Region.
