Signs and sharrows raise awareness in Simsbury, CT.

New Bike Lane installed along Iron Horse Blvd.

Several yellow, "Share-the-Road" signs will be placed along a 14-mile loop of town roads in Simsbury by the end of May. Additional sharrows will be painted on those same country roads.

A sharrow, or shared-lane marking, is a white, bicycle symbol with double arrows that alerts other road users to expect bicyclists to occupy travel lanes. Bicyclists get at least three-feet of space when vehicles pass, and have right-of-way if they must move further into the travel lane to negotiate a turn or road impediment.

A bike lane will be completed in May along the length of Iron Horse Blvd. in Simsbury, a highly travelled section of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail/East Coast Greenway.
